No. 3: Make sure that the battery terminals are clean before you start charging. It is pretty common for the battery of a vehicle, especially for an old model, to be corroded. As you clean, you should definitely cover your mouth and nose with a facemask to avoid inhaling airborne corrosion. Another tip you could implement is the use of baking soda to eliminate the cause of this type of corrosion.

If your charger has an adjustable charge rate then it is best that you set it in the lowest rate possible.
